| I received an invitation
to visit Cyprus on the anniversary of the intervention
of Turkish troops during the civil strife of the 1970's. After attending
official press events I then broke away to tour the island for
myself. From one end of the island to the other I found evidence
of the violence, mass graves, bullet riddled walls, and burned out
houses. But
I also found great natural beauty, historic relics, and quite community
